茅台酒产于中国西南贵州省仁怀市茅台镇，同英国苏格兰威士忌和法国柯涅克白兰地并称为“世界三大名酒”。它的生产可以追溯到距今2000余年前的汉代。到清代中期，茅台酒的生产已具有一定的规模，年产量可达170吨，在中国古代酿酒史上是罕见的。解放前，生产茅台酒的主要有三家酒坊，他们所产的分别称为“华茅”、“王茅”和“赖茅”，其中“华茅”就是现在茅台酒的前身。1915年巴拿马万国博览会上，茅台酒（华茅）被评为金奖产品，自此得以扬名世界。解放后，国家十分重视发展和扶持这一名优产品的生产工作，经过三十余年的建设，到1987年，茅台酒的年产量已达1700吨，除满足了国内需求外，还远销到世界各地的许多国家。
茅台酒素以色清透明、醇香馥郁、入口柔绵、清冽甘爽、回香持久等特点而名闻天下。它以优质高粱为料，上等小麦制曲，每年重阳之际投料，利用茅台镇特有的气候，优良的水质和适宜的土壤，采用与众不同的高温制曲、堆积、蒸酒，轻水分入池等工艺，再经过两次投料、九次蒸馏、八次发酵、七次取酒、长期陈酿而成。酒精度多在52～54度之间，是大曲酱香型白酒的鼻祖，更是中国的国酒。
Produced in Maotai town, Renhuai City, Southwest China's Guizhou Province, Moutai is one of the "three famous wines in the world" along with British Scotch whisky and French cognac. Its production can be traced back to the Han Dynasty more than 2,000 years ago. By the middle of Qing Dynasty, the production of Moutai wine had a certain scale, with an annual output of 170 tons, which was rare in the history of ancient Chinese wine making. Before liberation, there were three main distilleries producing Maotai wine, which were called "Huamao", "Wangmao" and "Lai MAO", of which "Huamao" is the predecessor of Maotai wine today. In 1915, at the Panama World Exposition, Moutai (Huamao) was awarded the gold medal product, and since then it has become famous in the world. After liberation, the state attaches great importance to the development and support of the production of this excellent product, after more than 30 years of construction, by 1987, the annual output of Maotai wine has reached 1700 tons, in addition to meet the domestic demand, but also exported to many countries around the world.
Maotai is famous for its clear and transparent color, mellow fragrance, soft mouth, crisp and sweet, long-lasting fragrance and so on. It is made of high-quality sorghum and high-quality wheat koji, which is put into feed every year on the occasion of the Double Ninth Day. By taking advantage of the unique climate of Maotai Town, excellent water quality and suitable soil, it adopts different high-temperature koji making, stacking, steaming, light water into the pond and other processes, and then goes through two feedings, nine distillations, eight fermentation, seven liquor taking and long-term aging. The alcohol content is mostly between 52 and 54 degrees, which is the ancestor of Daqu sauce-flavor liquor and the national wine of China.

近期我公司征集了一瓶1953贵州茅台，典藏克重674.4g。瓶身为绵纸包裹的酱釉瓶。背标文字内容：“茅台酒是中国名酒，产于贵州省仁怀县茅台镇，历史悠久，工艺独特，早已驰名中外，为广大消费者所热爱。一九一五年巴拿马万国博览会荣获奖章、奖状。新中国成立后，茅台酒保持并发扬了优良的传统工艺，技术精益求精，质量稳定提高，具有酱香突出、优雅细腻、酒体醇厚、回味悠长等特点。历届全国评酒会均被评为国家名酒，荣获国家金质奖章。”，生产日期为蓝色数字印在背标落款位置。1953年7月29日茅台酒厂划为省级企业时确定的名称，之前是县属企业，酒厂成立初期的名称，也经历了“贵州省专卖事业公司仁怀县茅台酒厂→贵州专卖事业管理局仁怀茅台酒厂→贵州省地方国营仁怀酒厂→贵州省地方国营茅台”的过程。在1953年前半年，茅台酒的商标就出现了繁体“贵州省地方国营仁怀酒厂出品”的字样。最早的“地方国营”从此就诞生了。狭义上的“地方国营”也仅仅生产了4年，存世量及其稀少，而最晚的一批出厂的“地方国营”已经有了30余年的历史。根据数据统计，83-86年累计基酒产量4202吨，仅灌装832万瓶，历经这么多年的消耗，人均拥有率已不及0.03瓶，其珍稀程度与收藏价值可见一斑。

On July 29, 1953, when Moutai Distillery was designated as a provincial enterprise, it was previously a county enterprise, and the name of the early establishment of the distillery also experienced the process of "Guizhou Province monopoly business Company Renhuai County Moutai Distillery → Guizhou Monopoly Business Administration Renhuai Moutai Distillery → Guizhou Province local State-owned Renhuai Liquor Factory → Guizhou Province local state-owned Moutai". In the first half of 1953, the trademark of Moutai appeared the words "produced by Renhuai Winery in Guizhou Province". The earliest "local state" was born. The "local state" in the narrow sense has only been produced for four years, and the number of existing is very rare, and the latest batch of "local state" has a history of more than 30 years. According to statistics, the cumulative base wine production of 4202 tons in 83-86 years, only 8.32 million bottles, after so many years of consumption, per capita ownership rate has been less than 0.03 bottles, its rarity and collection value can be seen.
